U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks (W.D. Ark.) issues preliminary injunction blocking Sections 1 and 5 from taking effect. Case: Fayetteville Public Library v. Crawford County.
Judge Brooks permanently strikes down Sections 1 and 5 of Act 372 as unconstitutional. Section 1 (criminal penalties for furnishing "harmful" materials) found overbroad; Section 5 (book challenge process) found to lack constitutional safeguards, chilling free expression. AG Griffin announces intent to appeal.
